Podcasts are an invaluable tool for any business. They can help you learn more about your business, about business in general, about your ideal client – nothing is too niche! My favorite podcasts are the ones that help me stay inspired, work hard and of course the ones that explore the very specialized wedding and creative business market. Each delves into daily hot-topics in the industry and acts as a guiding resource to help listeners elevate their business to the next level.

Mistakes Make Magic Podcast
Catherine Guidry is not only one of the kindest souls around but also a smart and talented business owner, photographer and podcaster. Her podcast, as the name suggests, is focused on delving into stories of how our mistakes can turn into positive learning experiences and even positive outcomes. She’s able to lead conversations with key people in the industry about their mistakes, and it’s one of my favorite podcasts because you get to hear the guests being vulnerable and accepting their mistakes as an incredible journey that got them where they are today.

You can listen to my podcast episode with Catherine about getting published and how to visually market your brand here.

Brands That Book Podcast
Davey and Krista Jones are a powerhouse couple – she is a talented graphic designer and he is an SEO and website specialist extraordinaire. Together they create beautiful brands and chat about how to build a brand that stands the test of time.

You can listen to my episode on Creating and Curating images which you can listen to here

Rock Your Wedding Biz Podcast
A must-listen for anyone in the industry. This podcast is hosted by wedding planner Renee Dalo and social media consultant Mindy Marzec. You can find episodes with honest business advice, inspirational stories from the industry and plenty of additional business tools.

Submitting your work to Blogs, which you can listen to here.

Photospark Podcast
Photospark is a podcast hosted by Julie and Kate, wedding photographers in San Diego. The podcast has been around for five years, so it has a huge backlog of inspiring and helpful episodes. I love this podcast because it’s the most community-driven. Julie and Kate have worked to create a conversational podcast that shares their ups and downs and plenty of frank conversations about the business. The episodes and the community they’ve built are both invaluable to a wedding photographer in the industry!

The Pros and Cons of Styled Shoots, which you can listen to here.

Speaking

These conferences and workshops are the perfect way to get involved in the community and create long-lasting connections with industry professionals and the movers and shakers of the business. I have found a lot of value in my own business in attending and being able to connect with these large communities, and I think you will too!

With my past work at both The Knot and InStyle, I have everything from tricks of the trade to invaluable industry advice under my belt. Attending these conferences is also a great chance to get to hear me speak.

Conferences:

WPPI
This five day conference each year is geared specifically for wedding, event and portrait photographers and videographers. It takes place in Las Vegas and aims to inspire the industry professionals who attend. It's a huge expo with classes, booths and events – perfect to kick-start your networking experience.

It’s a three day long conference bringing together luxury event professionals to an exclusive networking summit. This conference offers powerhouse speakers, specially curated content and intimate experiences with the leading lights of the industry.

Showit United
Showit is my go-to website platform. It’s what my website is built on and what I encourage all my clients to use as well! Showit United is a conference for photography professionals to help inspire them and connect them with a community of like-minded artists with a host of events like website coaching, dinner gala, styled shoot and an amazing speaker line-up.

Hybrid Collective
The Hybrid Collective is a three-day conference with 350 attendees created and curated specifically for digital, hybrid and film photographers. Here you’ll find expert speakers, styled shoots, master classes and a strong hybrid photography community.

Click Away Conference
The Click Away conference is an immersive photography experience for women photographers to get inspired about their businesses.
